I am back again, continuing the ‘Testing Primark Series‘, and this week I thought I would give you the low-down on the ‘My Perfect Colour concealer’. This Primark concealer is only £2 … yes, you read that correctly, only £2. As concealers go, this is not just cheap but super cheap. But is it any good?

The Packaging:

I actually really like this packaging, I think it is very similar to most drugstore concealers, a thin plastic tube with simple black lettering. I love the fact that it is clear and black packaging as I personally think it looks more sophisticated. The narrow tube means that it doesn’t take up loads of room in both my collection and makeup bag, something that I really appreciate. The packaging also displays key information such as shade, volume and the important claims. This Primark concealer has a simple doe foot applicator which I don’t think is the best. For £2 I will let it slide, but I would prefer a larger, more cushioned applicator for quicker and smoother application.

The Concealer

This concealer consists of a total of 7.8 ml (or 0.26 Fl Oz). To put that into perspective, the Maybelline Fit Me concealer, which I think is probably has the most similarities to the Primark version, is 6.8 ml. So you are getting a considerable amount of product for such a small price point. The My perfect colour concealer range has 8 shades, ranging from the very fair to the more deeper skin tones. I chose the shade ‘Ivory’ as I am basically a walking, talking milk bottle. I will say I was limited by my Primark’s stock, and if I had more choices I would have chosen a paler shade, eg. porcelain, as this one is slightly too dark for under my eyes.

The claims:

There aren’t many claims listed by this Primark concealer, but here they are:

  • medium coverage
  • Contains Vitamin E and Aloe Vera

My thoughts:

So, as I said before, this concealer reminds me the most of the Maybelline Fit Me concealer, and I would say it is a good dupe. This concealer is definitely not full coverage like the Makeup Revolution one but is more light-medium. It feels very lightweight underneath the eyes, but doesn’t cover all of my dark circles, but the majority. Nonetheless, I do like this concealer for a no-makeup, makeup day. Like I said, I definitely got the wrong shade, and so I’m sure a lighter shade would be much more brightening underneath the eyes. In terms of the vitamin E and Aloe vera claims, obviously I can’t really prove that, but I do think it is a nice touch. Vitamin E is great for anti-ageing and so if you have more mature skin and want a light concealer underneath your eyes – this is the one for you. Aloe vera provides moisture to the skin. I can’t say that this concealer added moisture to my under eyes but it didn’t make them feel dry which some concealers do. All good! The Primark Concealer didn’t crease on me and lasted a good few hours.

Would I buy it again?

Overall, I did enjoy this concealer for more of a lightweight makeup day. I do wish it did more for my dark circles, but I think getting the right shade would make my undereyes brighter (my bad). If I was ever in my local Primark, I would pick this concealer up again, and for £2 … who could blame me?!

Have you tried this concealer? What are your thoughts?

So if you have been following me for a while, you will know that I am currently on a placement year working full time in a lab. This means that every day I have to wake up at 6am… ish. Because I am sleepy as hell in the morning, I need a quick and easy makeup look to get me out of the house in 20 minutes. I don’t do a full glam look, just the essentials so that I don’t look like a zombie rocking up to work. Keep on reading to see what I put on my face each morning.

Primer

It is very rare that I put on primer before my foundation on a day to day basis, I often skip this step to save time. If you saw my skincare routine post you will know that my skin has gotten so dry recently. If I am having a dry skin day I use my Too Faced Hangover primer to add some extra moisture to my skin for the day.

Foundation

If you have read my Favourite makeup of 2017 post, you will know that the Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation has become a staple everyday makeup item. I apply it with a damp Real Techniques sponge so that it gives me a medium dewy finish. The glow will make my skin look much more radiant and healthy and not dull and dry when I’m at work.

Concealer

My favourite concealer that I like incorporate into my everyday makeup routine, is the Maybelline Fit Me concealer. It is not as full coverage as some of my other concealers and so is perfect for brightening underneath the eye without looking too heavy. It covers up my dark circles so that I look much more awake! It is so quick and easy to blend with a sponge, speeding up the whole routine.

Powder

If you know me, you know that I always rave about the Rimmel Stay Matte powder, it’s an absolute bargain! I use this to powder all over the face to keep it in place all day long. This powder really does help to prolong my makeup and not look oily.

Bronzer

My everyday bronzer go – to is the Benefit Hoola Bronzer. This is definitely needed, if I don’t I look like Casper the friendly ghost! It is not a shimmery bronzer (I hate those), but adds a nice warmth to the skin and gives my face some definition. Otherwise, I would be very 2D. Although this is a high-end product, a little goes a long way, mine has lasted forever and so is definitely good value for money.

Highlighter

This is another optional step that I sometimes skip if I am running a bit late. If I do want to give my face a bit of extra glow, I use the Benefit Dandelion Twinkle highlighter. It is not a full on glowy highlighter but adds a subtle highlight to the face, perfect for everyday use.

Brows

Brows are such a pain to do quickly in a morning so I am always on the hunt to find something to speed up the process! I am currently using the Nyx brow pomade which is easy to use but does take almost as much time as all the other steps put together! If you have any brow products that you swear by, let me know in the comments.

Mascara

Mascara is the last step in my routine. My new go-to is the French Connection mascara. ‘What?’ I hear you ask… ‘French connection do makeup?’. I know right, I was shocked too! I didn’t think I would like this mascara but I actually love it! It is not a volumising mascara but is very lengthening, it gives such fluttery eyelashes that are great for everyday!

So those are the products I use for my everyday makeup! I’d say in total it takes less than 10 minutes… perfect if you’re in a rush to get out of the house (If you are anything like I am). What products do you use for your no-makeup-makeup look? Let me know in the comments.

Thanks for reading!

One thing that you should know about me is that I love eyeshadow palettes… it’s a bit of a problem really! I prefer them so much over eyeshadow singles as they are so convenient to create lots of looks very easily and great for travel. However, I do buy too many and I’m trying to limit how many I buy! I think I have a quite a large palette collection but nowhere near as big as other bloggers I have seen! So I have narrowed them down to my 5 Favourite eyeshadow palettes, let me know if they’re your faves too.

1. Morphe Jaclyn Hill palette

If you read my 2017 favourites you will know that this is an amazing palette! It is extremely pigmented and blends like a dream. I normally don’t really buy beauty collabs because I think they tend to be overpriced for what you get but this has been my exception. There is such a wide colour range so a variety of looks can be created. Despite this, I am still too scared to use the bright colours, but they’re so stunning that I hope to be brave enough to use them soon. Love this palette!

2. Urban Decay – Naked Heat palette

I recently did a post on 5 high-end products worth the splurge and the Naked Heat palette made the cut! If you love fiery warm tones then this is the palette for you. Every man, woman and child have raved about this palette and for good reason. Obviously, Urban Decay is known for great quality, and this palette is no exception. You can create looks for both day and night with mattes and shimmers to choose from. The shimmer shades are great all over the lid, and the mattes are stunning in the crease to create definition. An overall sound palette.

3. Morphe 35F Fall into Frost palette

This palette was on my 2017 Christmas wishlist as I had heard so many amazing things about the product. I was NOT disappointed! If beautiful shimmery shades are your thing, you absolutely need this palette. Like seriously, you need it. They are incredibly pigmented and so a little goes a long way. The clue is in the name with this palette, it is perfect for the fall time, but, with a wide range of colours, I think it is great for all year round. It is such great value for money, 35 eyeshadows for a little over £20 on Beauty bay bargain of the century.

4. Urban Decay – Naked original

An oldy but a goldy… it’s as simple as that. The original naked palette has been around for years now, and still remains a cult favourite for most beauty lovers. With lots of new palettes obviously been released since then, I neglected this palette a little bit. But recently I thought I would give it another try, and I have fallen in love with it all over again. Gold eyeshadows are my thing. They are so easy to wear and I think they look great no matter what time of year it is. This palette is a gold lovers heaven, they are probably the most pigmented eyeshadows I own and last incredibly all day long. Some people think these palettes are overpriced but considering how long I have had it, and I have used it to death, I haven’t hit pan. That’s insane.

5. Morphe 15D Day slayer palette.

I did a review a few weeks ago of this palette, you can check it out here. In such a short space of time, it has become one of my all-time favourites. This is 100% a warm-toned palette, so if you are more of a cool toned kind of gal, I would avoid this palette like the plague. But if you’re like me and love warm oranges, browns and golds, you need this palette in your life. For 15 eyeshadows it is only £15 – yes you read that correctly. £1 per eyeshadow. And they are bloody brilliant. It has a mirror unlike the other Morphe Palettes and so it is perfect for travelling, I always take it with me when I stay at my friend’s house now. It is such a bargain, how can you turn it down!?

Reading back through this post, I have realised that Morphe and Urban Decay are my favourite palettes ahha! Oh well, stick to what you know! I hope you enjoyed this post and it gave you palette inspo! Let me know in the comments your faves and any recommendations that I should try out!

I recently did a post on 5 high-end makeup items that were worth the money. In this post I said that a makeup product may not be amazing just because it’s expensive. So, I thought it would only be right if I did the opposite! I always say that you don’t have to spend a fortune to get good quality products… so here are 10 great drugstore products that are less than £10!

1. Makeup Revolution Conceal and Define Concealer – £4.00

This concealer has become my all-time favourite. You can read a more in-depth review here, but all you need to know is that it’s creamy and blendable, full coverage and ONLY £4! That’s insane. For reference, I use shade C2 and it really brightens my under-eye area. As drugstore products go… This one is incredible.

2. Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder – £3.99

When I first bought this product, I wasn’t a big fan (shock, horror I know), I just didn’t understand the hype. However, after giving it a proper go it is not my favourite drugstore powder. I use the translucent shade so that I don’t change the colour of my foundation as I set it. It doesn’t make my skin look cakey, and keeps my makeup in place all day long. At less than £5 you can’t complain! It is a product I have bought time and time again (and you can afford to at that price) and really is a great product.

3. Nyx Lingerie Liquid Lipstick – £7.00

This product is another great buy! With every brand bringing out liquid lipsticks these days it can be hard to choose which to buy. The Nyx lipsticks are beautiful! They are extremely pigmented, glide on like a dream and don’t go crusty after wearing them all day. My favourite shade is 108 – Bedtime Flirt. It is the perfect pinky nude that will be perfect for all year long. All of the lipsticks last all day and don’t feel drying on the lips.

4. Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation – £9.99

If you saw my Favourite Makeup of 2017 post you will know that the Bourjois Healthy Mix is my favourite drugstore foundation at the minute. It is perfect for my combo skin and lasts all day without looking cakey or sliding all over my face. It is a relatively dewy foundation and makes the skin look so flawless and healthy. I haven’t tried a new drugstore foundation since because it is my everyday go to! It is the perfect shade for my pale skin (N51 for reference) and so I don’t look like an orange every time I leave the house!

5. Makeup Revolution Reloaded Iconic Fever palette – £4.00

This product is the ultimate drugstore bargain. I don’t know any other brand that would sell a full eyeshadow palette for £4… its crazy! But what is even crazier is how good it is! With 15 pigmented shadows, a mixture of mattes and shimmers, and lovely warm toned colours, it is perfect for everyone! I could not recommend this palette more!

6. Nyx Tame and Frame Tinted Brow pomade – £6.00

This product is Nyx’s dupe of the Anastasia Beverly Hill’s Brow pomade. I never used to be a fan of pomades and was more of a powder person (I wore the HD brows kit) so I thought I would ease in with a cheaper product. I was not disappointed! It is the perfect shade to match dark hair and is so quick and easy to apply. I use it with the Nyx number 118 brush and achieve effortless brows in minutes! All for £6 what could be better!?

7. Collection Lasting Perfection concealer – £4.19

This is an oldy but goldy! If you haven’t heard of this concealer over the years then you have been living under a rock! It is great coverage and again for such a small price. Collection has recently released more shades and so it is so much easier to get a perfect match. The clue is in the name, this concealer lasts and doesn’t crease, a great addition to any makeup lovers collection.

8. Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Lipstick – £5.99

Another lipstick I’m sorry! But it is such a bargain for a great product! This was actually the first liquid lipstick I had ever tried and I still love it to this day. My favourite colour is 200 – Pink Bink (yes another pink… I like them okay!). Like the other lipstick it is a dream to apply, lasts all day (even with multiple drinks) and I get so many compliments when I wear it. This one is £1 cheaper than the Nyx lipstick if you really do want a bargain!

9. Maybelline Fit Me Concealer – £4.15

Wow, this post turned into the best drug concealers…oops. But this does prove that you don’t need to fork out lots of money to get a decent concealer that does the job. All of the ones that I have mentioned have been less than £5 and have been so much better than the more expensive alternatives. This one is much lighter than the other two and so is perfect for those no-makeup makeup days. It is creamy, blendable, and gives just enough coverage to hide those pesky dark circles… another drugstore bargain!

10. Nyx Setting Spray – Dewy Finish/Long Lasting – £7.00

Last, but certainly not least… a setting spray! If you have been following me for a while, you will know that the morphe setting spray is my all time favourite. But this product is a close second, and half the price! This setting spray is great for giving that dewy look (hence the name) and I love wearing it on a night out to keep my makeup in place whilst still looking fresh and glowy af. It doesn’t leave water droplets on the face (which I hate) and gives my skin that extra boost of life!

So those are 10 products that are less than £10 – BARGAIN! What are your favourite drugstore products? Leave me a comment down below!

Thanks for reading,

Chlo x

My makeup collection (most likely a lot smaller than other bloggers) is a mixture of both drugstore and luxury products. I have always said that you can find hidden gems in the drugstore and terrible high-end products and so price doesn’t really matter! Having said that, here are 5 high-end products that I think are totally worth the splurge and don’t disappoint (well for me anyway).

Urban Decay – Naked heat palette £39.50

All of the Urban Decay palettes are known for being quite pricey! But for the beautiful colours, stunning pigments and excellent blendability they are brilliant value for money. I believe that all of the Naked palettes can make this list, but I narrowed it down to the most recent palette… The Naked Heat! With 12 fiery, earthy shades, this palette packs a punch! There is a mixture of mattes and shimmers, with shades that can complement any skin tone. Working out at just £3 an eyeshadow, who can complain?!

Benefit – Hoola Bronzer £24.50

If you read my Favourite makeup of 2017 post, you will know that I absolutely love the Benefit Hoola bronzer. This is the only bronzer that I have re-purchase time and time again (as you can probably tell from the shiny new one in the picture). I have a very pale complexion and so many bronzers can make me look like I work at Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory! This is the only bronzer that I have come across so far that does not make me look ridiculously orange, and, with a slightly more cool tone, it is perfect for contouring. The Hoola bronzer lasts me forever, it took well over a year to hit pan despite me using it every day and so you really are getting a lot of product for your money!

YSL – All hours foundation £35

This is a relatively new purchase of mine, and I love it. You have probably seen a lot of hype over this foundation… and rightly so! It has a full coverage, matte finish, lasts all day and makes the skin look flawless! What more can you want? I mainly wear this foundation for nights out or special events as it is too expensive for everyday wear (unless you are rich af). But every time I do wear it, I get so many compliments. I got a brilliant shade match for my pale skin (BD20) which makes me feel so much more confident when wearing it. It also comes with a pump, which many other high-end foundations don’t have (I’m looking at you Nars Sheer Glow) and so you can control how much you use at any one time and prevent wastage!

Laura Mercier – Loose Setting Powder £20

An oldy but a goldy! The loose setting powder in Translucent has been all over the Internet for years, which may give you a hint that you should buy it! It sets foundation beautifully without giving you cake face! It is very finely milled and so is great for baking under the eyes and dusting all over the face for makeup that will last all day long! Also, the translucent shade means that it doesn’t alter the colour of my foundation (one less thing to worry about). This is another product that I have had for a really long time and I havn’t hit pan, proving that it is great value for money.

Too Faced – Hangover Primer £27

Last, but certainly not least, is the Too faced Hangover primer! I hadn’t used this primer for a while but after my skin getting drier over the winter months I thought I’d dig it out again. I am so happy that I did! This primer is sooooo moisturising and makes my skin feel so lovely and soft. It leaves the skin feeling slightly tacky and so no matter what foundation I use, it lasts all day long. It also smells of coconut – a great bonus!

So those are 5 high-end items that I believe are worth the extra money! If you have any cheaper alternatives to these products please leave a comment down below, I am always looking for a good dupe! Thankyou again for reading!
