Happy New Year! It’s officially 2020 … can you believe that?! I’m in actual shock that a whole decade has passed and we’re now in the roaring twenties (I hope). Are you starting 2020 with a hangover like me? 2019 was an interesting year, and you can read all about my reflection of 2019 in my previous post. I set myself goals for 2019, which you can have a nosy at here, but, *spoiler alert*, I didn’t achieve all of them … and that’s okay! I decided to build upon last years goals for 2020 and make some new ones (hopefully one’s that I’ll stick too), so keep reading to find out my aspirations for the near year.
I’ve decided to write down my goals for 2020 right here on my little corner of the internet. I’m doing this in the hopes that if you lovely lot know about my goals it will give me more motivation to achieve them. I’d 100% recommend doing something similar to motivate you to meet your goals in 2020. Whether that’s on the internet (don’t worry, non-bloggers can just Tweet it into existence), in a notebook, journal or planner or even just tell other people your goals. My aim is that if I’ve put my goals out there for everyone to see, then I might stand the smallest chance of achieving them!
Okay, goal number one is to be more organised. I would say I’m a pretty organised person as it is, but if you read my previous post you will know that I’ve recently started a job. This means that in 2020, I want to be organised enough to do my full-time job whilst maintaining my blog! Now, the keen-eyed ones amongst you might notice that this was also one of my goals last year. I’ve decided that this year, rather than just say I’m going to be organised, I’m actually gonna make active steps to being better with my time.
If you’re up to date on my recent posts, you’ll know that I’ve made myself an editorial calendar for 2020 to plan all my blog content out ahead of time … ya know, to really get my shit together. So, at the start of each month, I want to brainstorm my posts and put them in the calendar so I know what I should be writing and when! I love this planner so much that I made it available for FREE for you to use – check it out here! I will dedicate certain days to my blog so that it doesn’t get neglected, I’m currently thinking Sundays but only time will tell with that one.
(Also let me know in the comments of any posts you would like to see this year)
I also want to write in my planner, keep to-do lists on hand and actually be more organised with my money too – hello savings! Fingers crossed I keep these guys!
So, my main blogging goal is to … you guessed it, keep blogging. And blog more. And blog consistently. But here are some other blogging goals I have (unrealistic, but oh well)
- Reach 100000 blog views total – I’m currently on around 70000 so this should be achievable if I actually write and promote my posts!
- Put more effort into my social media – I want to reach 5000 Twitter followers and 3000 Instagram followers (follow me, if you want to help me out)
- Change my blog theme, heading and logos – essentially my whole brand. This has been annoying me for a while, but I’ve been waiting for the funds
- Work with 5 new brands and continue to work with brands I have worked with before
- Go to 10 blogging events – maybe some even further afield than Manchester and Liverpool!
- Engage more with other bloggers – whilst I’ve made lots of blogging friends in 2019, I’d love to interact with lots more on my socials and read more blogs – leave yours in the comment so I can have a read!
Okay, so this is probably everyone’s goal for the new year … January rush, am I right? Yep, I’m one of those people, but I think it’s a good thing! New year, New decade, New me … sort of! I will join the gym and actually go to the gym. I’m hoping by going to gym classes that I will be more likely to go and not waste my gym pass. I won’t be saying a specific number of days I’ll be going a week and what have you, basically just start is my goal. As I side note, I’m also wanting to drink more water … I got a new water bottle for Christmas and I’m super excited to use it!
2019 was a pretty good year for travel. After I graduated, I decided to travel and basically take a bit of a break. I went to Barcelona and New York with friends and family. I went on my first solo trip to Greece, and then my second to Thailand. Get this, I was even more spontaneous than normal and instead of coming home from Thailand I went to Bali instead. Honestly, I had the time of my life and I wish that’s what my life could be like 24/7 … but reality right? I’ll never forget all the memories I made in some incredible places with even more incredible people, a lot of which I still see and keep in touch with!
My goal for 2020 is just to travel to more places – not a certain number of countries, just new places. I would love to go to Vietnam, the Philippines, New Zealand and Australia but with a new job I think it’s really unlikely … so they’re my goals for the next couple of years! This goal kind of ties in with the whole being organised with my money goal – I’d love to save and do another big trip – perhaps NZ/Aus for 6 months in a year or so … who knows?!
Say ‘Yes’ more
This is a simple one really. I tend to other-think and get anxious quite a lot and often it can hold me back in doing things which would probably be good for me. So my goal in 2020 is basically just to be more open and say ‘YES’ to more things. Whether that be a random cinema trip, a scary blogging event, travel to the other side of the UK to see friends – I’m doing it! I really think it will make my year so much better and filled with more memories!
So those are my 2020 goals! You have my permission to nag me on social media if I’m clearly not doing what I said I was gonna do! What are your 2020 goals and how do you stick to them? Let me know in the comments!
