Hey lovelies, if you follow me on Twitter or Instagram, you will know that last month Dermalogica very kindly made me one of their ‘Skinfluencers’! After filling out a questionnaire about my skin type and problem areas, Dermalogica very kindly gifted me some of their skincare products to try out*. They very kindly sent me their Precleanse*, Special Cleansing gel*, Daily Microfoliant*, Skin smoothing cream* and the Skin Perfect primer*. I have been using these products for more than a month now, so keep reading to find out my Dermalogica review! Have you tried Dermalogica Skincare? Let me know your thoughts in the comments.
Dermalogica Precleanse review: £38.50/150 ml
Out of all of the products I was gifted, this is 100% my favourite. Did you know that you need to precleanse before you cleanse? I definitely didn’t before trying out this product. The Dermalogica Precleanse is an oil-busting emulsifier that is used to melt away excess oil, makeup and pollutants to leave your skin as clean as possible. I use it every evening to remove my makeup and it is so quick and easy to use, removing even stubborn waterproof makeup. It makes my skin feel so clean without clogging pores, and, as it has no artificial fragrances, will not irritate my skin! I can’t quite put my finger on what this cleanser smells like, it reminds me of a childhood sweet but I can picture which one. But all I can say is it smells amazing! I would definitely recommend this product, and it works great with my combination skin.
Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel review: £32.00/250 ml
This is another product that has quickly become one of my faves! Of course, after doing your precleanse, you have to now cleanse… DUH. Just in case the precleanse didn’t remove all of your skin’s impurities, the special cleansing gel has your back! What I really like about this cleanser is the texture. The gel texture feels so silky on the skin whilst also helping to cool and calm it down. It is so lightweight and mild so that I can use it every day without out drying out my skin which happens with a lot with other cleansers that I’ve tried. It also contains Balm Mint and Lavender extracts to soothe the skin, what more could you want!
Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant review: £49.50/75 g
This one is really interesting. As you all know I recently moved away from physical exfoliators to acidic ones as I find them less abrasive. I was really curious about trying an exfoliator that could be used every day as it contains colloidal oatmeal and allantoin making it more gentle. This exfoliator is different from the rest as it is actually a powder, that you add water to, to make a paste. I love how this makes my skin so much smoother and brighter and how the phylic acid, white tea and licorice help to balance uneven skin tone. But I will say it I do find it quite messy to use and as I’m so clumsy, I do tend to get powder everywhere! Because of this, I don’t tend to use it every day, but I will continue to use it to help reduce the size of my pores.
Dermalogica Skin Smoothing Cream review: £57.00/100 ml
The Skin smoothing cream is a moisturiser featuring a state of the art complex that helps to reduce trans-epidermal water loss and infuse the skin with 48 hours worth of moisturiser as well as helping to fight against environmental stress. The first thing I noticed about this product was how thick it was, a little really does go a long way (thank god because I think this is quite pricy). Although it can be used twice a day, because it is so thick, I tend to only use it at night before I go to bed rather than before applying my makeup. It really does add moisture, my skin feels less dry immediately and still feels lovely in the morning. I will say that this moisturiser has a really strong scent that I am not a fan of at all, but I put it with it to lock in that moisture. This is not my favourite product, and I don’t think I would personally spend that much money on a moisturiser, but if you have really dry skin I think this would be perfect for you!
Dermalogica Skin Perfect Primer review: £44.50/22 ml
I definitely have a love-hate relationship with primers. Sometimes I swear by them, other times not so much. Personally, I tend to go for more of a hydrating primer that is a little bit tacky to help my foundation stay in place. This primer claims to smooth fine lines, brighten and prime for flawless skin. When I first used this primer, I immediately thought of the Benefit Porefessional primer as they both have a very similar texture. It contains SPF 30 which is fab, and soy protein to even out skin texture. Although it is recommended to be used all over the face, I tend to use it in my T zone and my cheeks. Basically where my pores are huge. I do notice a slight difference when I use this product, with my pores looking smaller (win), and overall my skin just looks smoother underneath foundation. It comes with a tube dispenser to help you use the entire contents of the tube. It’s a nice added touch as £44.50 for a primer is waaay above my budget. I do like the primer, but I don’t think I would spend that much money on it!
So those are my thoughts! I am super grateful that I was chosen to be a Skinfluencer and I am excited to carry on working with Dermalogica in the future. All of their products are 100% vegan and cruelty-free which is amazing! Of course these products are quite expensive and there are definitely cheaper alternatives, but I think skincare is one thing you should always splash out on.
You always need a good base am I right?? Have you tried Dermalogica, what is your current skincare faves? Let me know in the comments!
