Testing Primark makeup: Liquid Glitter eyeshadows

That’s right. It’s back. After seeing the Primark Liquid Glitter eyeshadows, I just knew I had to try them. There have been rumours that these are Stila Glitter and Glow dupes, so I had to put them to the test. As it’s Christmas, I thought it was only right that I tested their Christmas highlighters too, so this post is like two for one! Both of these products retail for £3 each, but are they worth the money? Keep reading to find out.

Primark Liquid Glitter eyeshadows Packaging:

So the Primark liquid glitter eyeshadows look very similar to the Stila Glitter and glow liquid shadows in that they are clear plastic and have the name of the product on the front. The Primark version has a beautiful gold glitter lid which makes it feel much more expensive than it really is. The downside is that each of the different shades has the same gold glitter top, which can make it more difficult to distinguish between them. You can look at the product on the inside, but it can be quite tricky to tell ‘gold’, ‘pink’ and ‘silver’ apart. Like the Stila original, the shadows have a doe-foot applicator allowing easy application straight to the eye. The packaging overall is really nice and looks very festive.

Primark Liquid Glitter eyeshadows:

So as I said previously, I picked up three of the liquid eyeshadows ‘gold’, ‘pink’ and ‘silver’ … original names right? I’ve been playing with all of them, and you know what? They’re not bad. What I will say is that I don’t think these are Stila dupes. If you look at the swatches below, they are much sheerer than the Stila counterpart. When swatched, they are not opaque and obviously have clear gaps. But, when you put them on the lid, as you can see from the look I did below, they do have a lot of pigment and can create a really glittery look. ‘Pink’ is a clear winner out of the three for me, as it is more opaque and packs some pigment. I had lots of compliments when wearing these shadows on a night out, as my eyes really were a lot sparklier than usual. Another thing I’d say is that when the shadows dry down, they can become a tad flaky. Nothing that will cause major problems, but if you rub your eye or wear these for a really long time, you could get some fallout. I’d recommend doing your eyes first before the rest of your makeup. Overall, I do like these, they are definitely not as good as the Stila version but for £3 compared to £24, I really can’t complain. I hope Primark release more colours!

Primark Christmas highlighters packaging:

Again… totally cute packaging. What really makes these highlighters stand out is the stunning snowflake embossed into the product. For only £3, Primark has really gone the extra mile, and it’s the little touches that make them stand out. The highlighters are just standard plastic, so nothing too special there, but based on the price point, what more can you want? The lid is just clear plastic with the name simply put on the top, whereas the bottom is a lovely frosted silver. These highlighters look so cute and festive, I bought them purely for the packaging. No joke.

Primark Christmas highlighters:

There are three of these highlighters in the Christmas range, but sadly my local Primark only had two to choose from. So obvs, I got both, oops. I picked up the gold shade and the icier white highlighter. I’m gonna be the one to say it when you swatch these bad boys, they are hella pigmented. Girl, they’re insane. Unfortunately, the gold one is waaaay too dark for my pale ass, but if you have a deeper skin tone it would look beautiful. But don’t worry it won’t go to waste, I’ve been using this as an eyeshadow as well, and it looks fab when you pat it all over the lid. This is a great way to reuse powders that aren’t the right tone for you! Luckily, the white one is perfect for my skin, giving an amazing glow. You know me, I like to glow. It blends like a dream and lasts for hours. £3… an absolute steal.

I do really like both of these products, with both of them making it into my 10 beauty Christmas gifts under £10 post. If you can find these in your local Primark, I would definitely try to pick them up, whether it is to treat yourself or others! Have you tried any of the festive range? Are you as obsessed with the packaging as I am? Let me know in the comments.

Thanks for reading and Merry Christmas!

Chlo x

Might have to pick up the liquid eyeshadows, I’ve been forever eyeing up the ones by Stila but they’re so expensive for one, so these may be a great dupe for them! Love this post

I wouldn’t call them an exact dupe but they do a similar job with a bit more work!

I’ve tried a few things from Primark beauty before and have been pretty impressed but it can be pretty hit and miss. The glitters do look really pretty but slightly chuncky but I think I’d still give them a try! Great review x

100% it’s totally hit and miss! They are a bit chunky, definitely not as nice as the Stila ones but they look lovely, and can be used as an eyeshadow topper! X

I know, you wouldn’t think it would you, especially the highlighters! x

Yeah you are right, Stila eyeshadows look far better, but I mean if it’s like a little look that requires a little bit of shimmer/glitter, Primark ones would totally do the job 🙂 The gold one looks so nice!

Exactly it’s good for people on a budget or want to try liquid eyeshadows for he first time, or just to add a little sparkle! X

These look gorgeous! I love the glittery eyeshadow. That color probably wouldn’t look great on me, but I love the vibrancy of the glitter!
